Coming in Hot! Camp Ignite 2022

Right here in Charlotte, girls in grades 10-12, (ages 15 through 18), are learning what it takes to work as part of a team, how to self-regulate emotions, and… how to put out fires.

Camp Ignite is traditionally a four-day overnight camp that educates and inspires young women to follow their dreams. Their goal is to show campers a future of limitless opportunities and demonstrate that anything is possible. During the week-long camp, girls will have an opportunity to try auto extractions, hazmat operations, technical rope rescues (as pictured above), and learn about the various tools and skills needed to be successful in the fire service.

Charlotte PinC had the opportunity to speak to the girls during a “Career Opportunities” seminar provided by Camp Ignite. Together we chatted with campers about high school, college, what it takes to be a good student, job options, and what it means to be an entrepreneur.

Summer camps like camp ignite are necessary for the confidence and inquisitiveness of teenage girls. For far too long, young women, and summer camps for young women, haven’t nurtured the idea that girls and young women are multifaceted beings. Sure not all of these young campers will grow up and become

firefighters, but, the chance to explore that career option is priceless. It is when young women are given the option to choose, the option to be who they want to be is when creativity peaks. When confidence peaks. Camp Ignite is lighting the flames of curiosity in young girls all summer long. How could you put a price tag on such an experience?

If you’re looking for a way to support this not-for-profit camp, we encourage you to donate to Camp Ignite, at www.campignite.com/donate. Thank you Camp Ignite for having us, and supporting the next generation of leaders and thinkers in our community.
